about-web-2603.jpg

I develop visual narratives at the intersection of architecture, place, and culture.
My work distills the identity of spaces into precise imagery, where light, composition, and time become narrative tools.
I collaborate with brands, institutions, and cultural initiatives across editorial and digital platforms.

Nicanor was born in Barcelona, where he is currently based. He is an architect who ran his own studio, designing a wide range of projects including residential and office buildingseducational facilities, urban planning projects, and furniture. In 2007 he was a finalist for the FAD Architecture Awards. At the Escola Tècnica Superior d'Arquitectura de Barcelona (ETSAB-UPC), he served as a professor of architectural design. He has also taught as a visiting professor at architecture schools in Madrid, Tarragona, Porto Alegre, and Cuenca (Ecuador).

This extensive experience and deep understanding of architecture and the city allow him to capture their essence in his photographic work.

His career as a professional photographer began in 2012, focusing on architecture, urban spaces, cities, and culture, expressed through a distinct and personal visual language. He has photographed around the world and worked with international clients, including:
Japan National Tourism Organization, Jordan Tourism Board, Ministry of Tourism of Indonesia, Tourism Ireland, German National Tourist Board, Munich Tourism, Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Türkiye, Ministry of Tourism of the Government of India, Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines, Iberia, General Electric, Volkswagen, MINI, Mercedes-Benz, La Pedrera, Sagrada Familia, Huawei, Fujifilm, ASUS, among others.

His photographic work has been presented in solo exhibitions in Barcelona, Beijing, Lisbon, Ourense, and Tarragona, as well as in group exhibitions in Valencia, Burgos, and Barcelona. He has conducted photography workshops in Madrid, Barcelona, Lisbon, Beijing, and Ecuador (Quito, Cuenca, and Guayaquil). At Domestika, he teaches a foundational online course on Architectural & Urban Photography.

Forbes Spain included him in its list of 100 best influencers in Spain in 2021 and 2020, and in 2019 recognized him as one of the five most influential photographers on social media.
In 2022, he was the only Spanish finalist in Fujifilm's GFX Grant Program 2021, alongside Shuko Kawase, with a project developed in Petra, Jordan.

Since 2012, his Instagram @nicanorgarcia has become one of the most followed personal accounts in architectural and travel photography.
